American Airlines will fly 10 additional Miami Brazil weekly frequencies. American proposes to increase its current service from Miami to Brasilia and Belo Horizonte, and to launch new service from Miami to Manaus.

American serves Brazil from Miami to Belo Horizonte, Brasilia, Recife, Rio de Janeiro, Salvador and Sao Paulo, and from Dallas/Fort Worth and New York-JFK to Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo. With more than 65 weekly flights, American operates more service to Brazil than any other U.S. carrier.
American airlines plan to use three frequencies to increase Miami – Brasilia service from four per week to daily using 182-seat Boeing 757-200 aircraft beginning Dec. 15, three frequencies to increase Miami – Belo Horizonte service from four times per week to daily using 225-seat Boeing 767-300ER aircraft beginning Dec. 15 and four frequencies to inaugurate Miami – Manaus service using 160-seat Boeing 737-800 aircraft beginning June 14, 2012.

American is committed to Latin America and Mexico and is strengthening its existing
routes and seeking out new destinations. It is expanding and improving airport facilities throughout the region, including gates, ticket counters and Admirals Club lounge. American is giving employees the resources they need by, creating marketing partnerships with Latin carriers to expand its competitive presence, developing a new world-class hub terminal for its Latin gateway in Miami airport, and operating one of the finest fleets in the world to Latin America.

In February 2011 American Eagle began service to two new destinations in Mexico –
Queretaro and Veracruz and in June 2011 American Eagle is scheduled to begin
service to Mazatlan and Morelia.

"If we are granted the use of these frequencies, we could begin flying as early as this coming December," said Will Ris, American's Senior Vice President – Government Affairs. "From Miami International Airport, we offer more than 380 weekly flights to more than 30 cities throughout Latin America and Mexico. Our proposed new service will give our customers even more travel options to Brazil, Latin America's largest economy."


American and American Eagle also provide more service between the U.S. and Latin America and Mexico than any other U.S. airline with flights to 44 destinations in the region.
