The Frequent Traveler Education Foundation (FTEF) announced today the launch of the Frequent Traveler Awards and the inaugural awards ceremony which takes place on November 4, 2010, in Houston, Texas. The awards represent excellence in frequent travel programs worldwide and rate the best frequent flyer and frequent guest programs across several categories.
In the spirit of the Freddie Awards, the Frequent Traveler Awards highlight quality, not quantity. In partnership with FlyerTalk.com, the leading online frequent traveler community, and Internet Brands, Inc., the Frequent Traveler Education Foundation established the Frequent Traveler Awards to honor the positive contributions of loyalty programs for their members and promote the modeling of these best practices.
"It is important that members of frequent traveler programs worldwide have their voices heard when it comes to the value of loyalty programs," said Foundation President Tommy Danielsen. "The Frequent Traveler Awards allow travelers to speak in unison about what they truly value in loyalty programs."
Frequent flyer and frequent guest programs from around the world will compete in five categories. Voters will select programs in one of three global regions: Americas, Europe/Africa, and the Middle East/Asia and Oceania.
Awards will be presented in five categories to recognize the best airline and hotel promotion for earning, best promotion for redemption, best redemption ability, elite benefits and branded credit card. A sixth award will recognize the overall airline and hotel ‘Program of the Yearin each region. In addition, a separate award will honor significant contributions to the loyalty industry by an individual or corporation.
The Frequent Traveler Awards will be voted on by frequent travelers worldwide, allowing them to rank airline and hotel programs from their point of view. The merits of what each program offers will determine the winners.
Internet Brands, the owner of FlyerTalk.com, is a major sponsor of the Frequent Travel Awards. The first Frequent Traveler Awards Ceremony will be held at the Sheraton North Houston at George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston on November 4, 2010 with both industry representatives and frequent travelers from around the world participating. Winners will be announced at the ceremony and results released to the public and media the same day.
