Straight from the Boeing’s factory to Copenhagen Airport

It is not every day a brand new aircraft touches down on the runway at Copenhagen Airport, but it happened today, Wednesday 5 May 2010, when Transavia.com’s new Boeing 737-800 aircraft landed after a non-stop flight from the Boeing factory in Seattle, USA.

On board the aircraft were senior executives from transavia.com together with representatives of a number of Danish and Swedish tour operators who use Transvia.com’s extensive route network from Copenhagen to Southern Europe.

Aircraft to be based at Copenhagen Airport
Transavia.com has named the new aircraft “Swift because it will be based at Copenhagen Airport and will be one of the first aircraft to use the CPH Swift low-cost pier when it comes into operation this autumn. CPH Swift and its related facilities are designed specifically for efficiency and to give the airlines new growth opportunities.

“We’re off to a good start at Copenhagen Airport and CPH Swift is a very important initiative that will help us expand our business further. We really appreciate this and that is also why we have named the new aircraft Swift said Michiel Meijer, CEO at Transavia, Denmark, when he arrived at Copenhagen Airport.

Fifth-largest airline at CPH
Low-cost carrier Transavia.com which is wholly owned by Air France-KLM, set up operations in Copenhagen Airport in November 2008. It has since grown to be the fifth-largest airline at Copenhagen Airport with services to 18 destinations as well as a large number of charter flights with Danish and Swedish holiday travellers. The airline has four aircraft stationed at Copenhagen Airport (three during winter) and plans to add more aircraft to the fleet in the years ahead.

“Transavia.com has a very strong product and is one of the fastest growing airlines at Copenhagen Airport. We are proud to have you as our costumers said VP, sales, Carsten Nørland, Copenhagen Airport, when he welcomed the passengers from the new aircraft with champagne and cake at gate C10.

Efficient and reliable aircrafts
Transavia.com was founded in 1966 and has consistently generated a profit for the last 31 years. The airline operates a modern fleet of 30 Boeing 737-700/800 aircraft, with an average age of only four years. The Swift aircraft is the third of a total of 10 new 737-800 aircraft the airline has ordered from Boeing.

“New aircraft are more reliable, efficient and environmentally friendly. It’s very important to our business and product that we have a young and well-functioning fleet said Michiel Meijer.
